CEDIA 2024

I co-developed and designed the Liquid Metal visual identity for Josh.ai’s 2024 CEDIA booth, creating a cohesive environment that connects AI, architecture, and design. The concept translates the brand’s intelligence and sophistication into tactile materials, fluid forms, and immersive visuals.

Background

We began by identifying the core areas of focus for the year: updates to AI OS and our growing security integrations, the introduction of Josh Edge, and the new wall-mounted touchscreen. Because AI continues to sit at the heart of the Josh brand, the visual direction needed to reflect that, communicating elegance, interconnectedness, and stability. The goal was to create a design system that felt premium and technically sophisticated while grounding the entire experience in transparency and trust.

Strategy

Our strategy started with market research, especially around how other companies were visually representing AI. Across the industry, we saw soft gradients, blurry shapes, and ambiguous, almost “random” imagery meant to make AI feel gentle or mysterious. But this ambiguity often created distance. AI felt abstract rather than familiar or grounded.

We wanted to take a different approach. Instead of leaning into vagueness, we aimed for something more stable, secure, and on-brand. The direction needed to feel sleek and premium, reflecting the real-world reliability of the Josh ecosystem rather than the uncertainty often associated with AI.

Visual Language

This led us to Liquid Metal, a visual identity that personifies AI in a way that feels tangible and familiar. These chrome forms give shape to something normally invisible, making AI feel approachable and rooted in the physical world. The simplicity mirrors the ease of using Josh, their stability reflects our commitment to security, and their ability to interact with each other and with our products represents the interconnectedness of the Josh ecosystem.

The chrome becomes a visual metaphor: its reach is the reach of Josh. When you see this material, it signals connection, intelligence, and the signature Josh aesthetic. Set against black backgrounds with stark white typography, the system is sleek, elegant, and unmistakably ours. It turns the unseen threads of the smart home into something immersive, cohesive, and beautifully designed, a physical expression of how Josh ties the home together.

Deliverables

The visual direction for CEDIA 2025 carried through every touchpoint of the show. The exterior fabric graphics set the tone, introducing the visual language before attendees even stepped inside. From there, the identity extended into stickers, T-shirts, print pieces, social ads, and email marketing, small moments that kept the experience cohesive no matter where someone encountered the brand. VIP event invitations followed the same rhythm, creating a unified thread from the booth to the wider show presence.
